Do You Want Beautiful Marina Del Rey Residences on the Ocean?

Do you love boating?  How about a look at some beautiful new Marina Del Rey residences on the ocean or close by?  As challenging as it is for developers to buy land in Marina Del Rey, several are forging ahead, especially with luxury properties.

That’s good news for the influx of professionals who are following their companies to great locations in the Southern California real estate market.  Many of these are employed with tech companies who pay enough to cover the high rents and million-dollar properties.  Keep an eye out for the following brand-new and upcoming choices.

New Marina Del Rey Luxury Housing

  • AMLI MDR contemporary complex on the water (585 units)
  • Paseo Marina condos and townhomes (658 units)
  • Neptune Marina (526 units)
  • Stella Apartments (244 units, 65 coming)
  • X 67 Lofts (67 units)

Sample Marina Del Rey Residences

Just look at the six-building AMLI MDR complex on the water off via Marina and Panay Way.  Five-story buildings in the L-shaped neighborhood provides stunning waterfront appeal.  Contemporary design by TCA Architects features huge corner windows and exposed rafters.  Residents enjoy retail plus sought-after community amenities such as swimming pools, fireplaces, green spaces, and plazas.  This project is opening this year.

Other projects follow a similar Mid-Century Modern contemporary concept.  In the heart of Marina Del Rey, the Stella Apartments on Maxella Ave. come in a variety of designs.  They range from 528 square feet up to 1,723 square feet with prices in the $3100-$4800.  Residents enjoy quartz countertops, stainless, wood floors, Moen fixtures, large balconies and patios, and lots of community amenities.

Land Challenges

These projects represent many more that could be on the back burner.  Builders scavenge for any space to build at all.  Not only are the Southern California coastal property prices very high but it is rare to find vacant lots near the beach.  Decades of stories related to the California Coastal Commission sends many builders to other communities, either farther from Los Angeles or farther from the water.

Persistent coastal builders may more readily get by with projects open to the public versus residential builds.  Consequently, some of the projects are designed for mixed-use with offices are retail on the bottom floor and residences above.

However, developers often face fierce opposition in the coveted waterfront real estate markets.  Who could oppose them?  Regulations and regulators, neighbors, traffic issues, and marine habitat – to name a few.  Then come the engineering challenges.  Even when developers find the desired land, they are challenged with a long list of government permissions.  So, let’s marvel at the new developments coming our way, bringing their fresh outlook to Southern California homes.
